چکیده
155 Blackgram or urdbean (Vigna mungo [L.] Hepper) is an important grain legume with easily digestible protein and low flatulence contents. It is highly prized pulse, rich in phosphoric acid. Grain of Black gram grain contains about 25% protein, 56% carbohydrate, 2% fat, 4% minerals and 0.4% vitamins. Urd is said to have originated in India where it is most widely grown and highly esteemed grain legume (Chatterjee and Bhattacharya, 1986). According to Vavilov (1926), blackgram has originated from Indian subcontinent. The present productivity levels of black gram in India are very low. Efforts to genetically improve the crop are still at low ebb. Further, it has been the least studied crop among the pulses and no international system under the CGIAR has this as a mandate crop (Ghafoor et al., 2000). The proper estimate of nature and magnitude of diversity in a crop is essential to infer about extent of variation available for yield and its component traits. The selection of highly genetically divergent parents is expected to throw superior and desirable segregants following crossing (Bhatt, 1973).

Genetic diversity as assessed by ISSR markers in Blackgram (Vigna mungo (L.) Hepper)
An investigation was carried out on a collection of 23 blackgram genotypes involving 16 released varieties, six pre release cultures and one wild species Vigna mungo var. silvestris to study the genetic diversity using twelve ISSR primers. The number of alleles produced by different ISSR primers ranged from eight to 17 with an average of 11.5 per primer and the level of polymorphism was found t...

A study was carried out to understand the mineral constituent variations under cobalt treatment in Vigna mungo (L.) Hepper. The experiments were conducted in earthen pots and lined the inner surface with polythene sheet. Each pot contains 3 kg of air dried soil. Blackgram plants were raised in these pots containing soils amended with different concentrations of cobalt (0, 50, 100, 150, 200 and ...
متن کاملDirect Plant Regeneration from Cotyledonary Explants of Blackgram (vigna Mungo L.) Hepper
The present study was undertaken to investigate the possibility for developing Efficient Plant regeneration protocol in Vigno mungo L. For this, the effect of Cytokinens on in vitro regeneration from Cotyledonary explants was studied in Black gram (Vigno mungo L.) Hepper Var Vamban-1. The cytokinins used were 6-benzylaminopurine (BAP), Thidiazuron (TDZ), and kinetin (Kn). The regenerated shoots...
متن کاملEffect of Metal Ions on the Cytosolic Nadp+- Dependent Isocitrate Dehydrogenase from Germinating Blackgram, Vigna Mungo (l.) Hepper
The cytosolic NADP+-dependent isocitrate dehydrogenase from germinating blackgram shows an absolute requirement of a divalent metal ion such as Mn2+ or Mg2+ for expression of its full activity. Other metal ions like Co2+, Zn2+ and Cu2+ could also activate the enzyme, though the degree of activation was lower than that of either Mn2+ or Mg2+ at the same concentration. In contrast, three metal io...

Three doses each of Gamma – rays, EMS, NG, MH and in combination were administered to the seeds of morphologically and genetically distinct blackgram varieties, PU-30 and Sarala In M2 generation most treatment populations exhibited reduction in mean and increase in variance for all six quantitative traits and among the mutagens NG and combined treatments induced more variability in both the var...
